Imagine a week where languages come alive through hands-on lessons, creative costumes and fun games. Just like the Language Week at IDRISSI International School! Every academic year, we celebrate the beauty and diversity of languages with our students and teachers. We believe language is much more than just a means of communication—it’s a tool to understand cultures, develop connections and promote personal and professional growth.
For both of our campuses, IDRISSI International School Johor Bahru held its Language Week from 23rd to 27th September 2024, while IDRISSI International School Setia Alam celebrated theirs from 7th to 11th October 2024. Alhamdulillah, both schools successfully organised a series of enriching and memorable activities that left students excited and inspired!
From classrooms to outdoors, students were immersed in the joy of learning languages, working together with their friends in a range of interactive activities. Take our Arabic Action Challenge during our Arabic Day as an example. How did it work? Students were divided into teams, each tasked with memorising Arabic words at Station A. They then raced through obstacles before reaching Station B, where they quickly wrote down the words they had memorised. Laughter, teamwork and quick thinking filled the air as they tackled the challenge with enthusiasm!
One of the highlights of our Language Week is always the grand finale! Every year, we hold a parade where students and teachers will dress up according to a theme. This year, IDRISSI International School Johor Bahru hosted a Cartoon Parade, where they transformed into their favourite local cartoon characters. From the lovable Upin Ipin to the energetic Boboi Boy, the school was filled with colours, creativity and excitement as each character came to life.
Meanwhile, at Setia Alam, the theme was Costume Parade, with students dressing up as characters from their favourite book-adapted movies. Sherlock Holmes made an appearance, along with other beloved characters such as Teletubbies (how cute?!) and Little Red Riding Hood. All were brought to life with impressive attention to detail! Kudos to all parents! Their dedication has made the grand finale a moment to remember!
For many students, Language Week is a transformative experience. It’s a chance to step into a new world, whether through a different language, a beloved character, or a new perspective. More than just fun, it’s an opportunity to grow, connect, and celebrate the power of language that unites us all.
