There are many preschool available in all parts of the world and there are various ways of learning concepts used in preschool too. In IDRISSI International School, our preschool is called Nature-Based Preschool. What is a Nature-Based Preschool? Here are some explanations on how our preschool is different from the rest.
First and foremost, our preschool follows an international curriculum in an innovative nature-based both outdoor and indoor play learning concept. Why are we unique? Our preschool used the bookless corner-based learning concept where skill-centric education was focused on to produce socioemotional ready children.
In our Nature-Based Preschool, there are six different corners in our corner-based learning concept. Let’s find out and explore more about it below.
However, before we walk through all the corners, there is a routine that students do every single morning which is CIRCLE TIME. Circle time is a morning ritual where the students at IDRISSI Nature-Based Preschool will share their thoughts and feelings to enhance their social skills as well as improving their attention span.
a. Nature-Based Corner
This is where nature-related skill and concepts will be explored by the students. They will spend their time outdoor and explore the nature.
b. Make and Take Corner
Next, make and take corner. The purpose of this corner is for the students to explore their creativity. The students will get messy with the uses of various art materials. There will be various choice of art mediums and techniques available for them to learn.
c. Create and Connect Corner
The next corner is called create and connect corner. This is when the child will build a positive self-esteem through different actions. Building self-esteem is very important since it will help the students to get along with everyone.
d. Literacy Corner
Following the next corner would be our literacy corner where a mixture of phonics, storytelling, songs, blending and segmenting will be involved. In IDRISSI Nature-Based Preschool, we used the widely known Jolly Phonics syllabus as an aid to teach our preschool students.
e. Numeracy Corner
Next, it would be the numeracy corner where creative media like sand, water, imaginative play, dough, and nature will be involved. It will be a fun and unique way to learn Mathematics especially for the little ones.
f. Happiness Corner
Happiness corner is a corner which the students will experience value-based learning. In this corner, the preschool students will also learn in a fun way on how to read Malay syllables and expand their reading skills through various medium of plays.
