IDRISSI Johor Bahru Family Day: The First of Many

IDRISSI Johor Bahru Family Day: The First of Many

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” — Helen Keller

The memories of our excitement and anticipation upon nearing our first-ever Family Day still linger in our minds. The Family Day took place on 27th July 2023 at El-Dhuha Campsite, Gunung Pulai, where students, teachers, and parents gathered for a fun-filled day. The air resonated with the melodies of the birds, mirroring everyone’s joyful heart. The sun shone brightly, matching their smiles!

Family Day is an initiative to strengthen the bond between the school community and the families that entrust us with the education and well-being of their children. Together, they joined hands and took part in the fun activities, deepened their understanding of one another, and enjoyed the day wholeheartedly.

Wonder what their activities were during the Family Day? Keep scrolling!

Welcome to the Jegichagi World!

In the blink of an eye, all of them were transported to Korea! Jegichagi is a Korean traditional outdoor game in which players kick a paper Jegi into the air and attempt to keep it aloft. Each team consisted of four players and they had to keep the Jegi aloft for 50 juggles. Wow, that’s a lot! But nothing is impossible! Even when they found it hard to keep their balance, the determination in their eyes was unmissable.

You Jump, I Jump!

Have you ever experienced the thrill of Chinese jump rope? During the game, a team of seven players was formed – two players swung the ropes and five players jumped off. The objective? To complete three swings successfully with agility and precision. A wave of cheers and applause surrounded the players as they put their full focus into the game. We love the spirit!

Red Light, Green Light

Squid Game fans, put your hands up! This beloved children’s pastime has gained popularity thanks to its appearance in the Korean series! Our early years children took part in this game and had an absolute blast! They moved on ‘Green Light,’ froze on ‘Red Light,’ and got a fun splash by a water gun officer if they moved during the ‘Red Light’ – the twist that made it super exciting!

Hello Tic-Tac-Toe!

A game that always excites children, whether it is played on paper or drawn in the sand! Well, we must say… parents and teachers couldn’t help but get swept up in the fun too! But there was a delightful twist to the classic game – they used hula hoops and two coloured cloths to represent the Xs and Os. The fastest one who formed a row of three by placing the cloth in the hoop won the game!

Oppss.. Don’t Let the Jenga Fall!

Have you seen a giant Jenga tower? The students did! They also had the chance to play alongside their parents and teachers. Did you know that this game was born in West Africa and Jenga literally means ‘to build’ in Swahili language? Well, now you know! One by one, they carefully took out the block without letting the tower tumble. It was tough but they breezed through it!

Let’s Go, Volleyball Team!

The gentle breeze of refreshing air added to the enjoyment, making the friendly competition more pleasant. This time, older family members gathered with a team of five. Everyone was determined to win but no one began the game without saying ‘all the best’ to one another. Teamwork spirit: checked. Communication skills among players: checked. Fun times with everyone: checked.

Protect the Precious Chain Game

Once upon a time, there lived a king loved by all his citizens. However, a cunning villain came into the picture and wanted to threaten the king’s peace. It was then up to the citizens to give their all to save the king! This tale served as an inspiration for our last game, where a group of male players joined forces to protect the king from being tagged by the villain!

If we could turn back the time and relive that wonderful Family Day, we would love to gather with everyone once again! Thank you, parents, for joining and supporting the event. Teachers, your dedication in organising the activities and ensuring everyone had a great time is truly invaluable. Students, we sincerely hope you had a fantastic time. Everyone’s enthusiasm and joyful participation made the day even more special and memorable.
