IDRISSI School has a unique approach to its curriculum. Dynamic and varied, the school combines long-established education with programmes that address students’ multiple intelligence and individual learning styles.
We have designed a curriculum that is both practical and purposeful to prepare them for a balanced education that engages them, rather than focusing on continual learning, memorisation, and regurgitation.
Acknowledging the multi-competency that is demanded in this competitive world, Idrissi Primary school offers a range of subjects to equip our students with different knowledge and skills; anchored by their Deen.
|Cambridge core subjects:
– Key Stage 1 (KS1) – Year 1 and Year 2
– Key Stage 2 (KS2) – Year 3 to Year 6
In Idrissi, we strongly believe that assessment should not be equalized to examination but it is part of it. Having said that, for year 1 and year 2 students, they will not be sitting for any internal exam just because we want to let them make use of their early childhood!
Internal assessment will commence from year 3 onwards; twice a year.
Cambridge International Examinations
Focuses on the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. External assessment at the end of Key Stage 2 (year 6) is through Checkpoint tests administered by Cambridge International Examinations.
Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS)
Similar to the DofE, the Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS) is designed for younger children. This non-compulsory programme is open to students age 10 and above, to help them build confidence and undergo transition from primary to secondary smoothly through an accredited programme. Each level requires four sections to be completed: My Interests (developing an interest or learning a new skill), Get Active, Stay Active (taking part in sport and physical activity), Me and My World (contributing to the local community) and Adventure (outdoor activity and learning, including teamwork and problem solving).
How will Idrissi School help?
The vast majority of the work is being done in schools already, including events that may already be in the school calendar. Our existing Eco-Scouts activities, for example, incorporate programmes aligned with JASS requirements. Our Idrissi teachers will act as mentors and guide our young students to plan their programme and achieve their goals.
