Here at IDRISSI SECONDARY, we continue our wholistic approach to education by nurturing our growing children in body, soul and mind. We believe that academics is not all the children need. As they enter into adolescence in preparation for adulthood, it is time for them to discover the meaning of life; and our curriculum provides the necessary support for them to become responsible adults and citizens of the world.
IDRISSI SECONDARY is a place that inparts education with community skills, character development, humanities experience, environmental consciousness and a sense of adventure. Our curriculum provides each student with the support to be the very best they can be in both Dunya and Akhirah, with an emphasis on all-rounded excellence.
They participate in opportunities to volunteer and support humanitarian causes, field trips to hone eco-warrior skills, and youth camps that are sporty and challenging – benefiting mind, body and spirit. We are re-thinking education to make it not just fun, but also rewarding and stimulating. Above all, we are guiding the next generation of khalifah to embrace the world’s challenges with the right skills, while equipping them with the wisdom to achieve eternal success in the Hereafter.
IDRISSI Secondary School was officially opened in September 2016 amid a growing demand from existing parents of graduating IDRISSI Primary students. We have a team of talented and dedicated teachers, offering a UK-based curriculum with a unique blend of extra-curricular programs for a wholesome and enhanced learning and life experiences for our students.
We believe we have a broad and balanced outlay of subject coverage. Taught subjects are fully planned according to the UK national curriculum in addition to Islamic Studies, Arabic and Malay as additional subject areas. Also included in our syllabus are VEP (Value Education Programme, FLiP (Islamic value-based Financial Literacy Programme), Skill and Fill, Physical Education and Art.
Students are highly encouraged to take up leadership roles in the school’s daily activities such as organising or becoming key members of school events. They are also given opportunities to volunteer and develop their humanitarian skills that complement their traditional learning from the various programmes we offer in our curriculum.
Apart from the core Cambridge IGCSE subjects namely English, Mathematics and Sciences, we also offer subjects from the Social Sciences as well as Arts and Technology ranges.
FLiP is an Islamic Value-Based Financial Literacy Program customised for us by leading Financial Education provider MoneyTree Asia Pacific. Unlike most Malaysian schools who offer Financial Literacy as an elective or extra coursework, we teach the subject as part of our school curriculum. Our teachers are trained and certified by MoneyTree as financial literacy educators to instil in our students good money management and understanding of the correlation between earning, budgeting, spending, saving, debt, investing, and giving.
SKILL AND FILL
Another customised subject we include in our curriculum is Skill and Fill, where students learn traditional Turkish Archery from trainers certified by the Yunus Emre Institute (world-wide non-profit organization by the Turkish government) and the Okçular Vakfi (Archers’ Foundation of Turkey). The traditional sports is being taught together with its underlying historical, athletic, artistic, cultural and educational values. Being focused, confident and having a good sense of coordination are some of the positive values students can benefit from the programme.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S INTERNATIONAL AWARD (DofE) & JUNIOR AWARD SCHEME FOR SCHOOLS (JASS) PROGRAMMES
We are the first Islamic International School in Malaysia to offer both the DofE and JASS programmes. Both Awards are internationally recognised and will give our students an edge over the rest in their education portfolio.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DofE) is an international leading achievement award programme for young people. It is a voluntary and non-competitive programme available for our students aged 14 and above. The DofE Awards Programme complements our students’ holistic development, introduces them to worthwhile leisure activities and voluntary service, and equips them with outstanding leadership qualities.
The Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS) is an accredited learning programme offered to our 10 – 14 year old students. JASS develops the whole individual by offering recognition in four key areas – regular physical activity, exploring a personal interest, working for the good of the community or the environment, and completing an outdoor activity or challenge. The programme is fully aligned with current educational thinking and IDRISSI’s outdoor learning strategy.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
IDRISSI School’s after-school clubs enhances learning and works as a platform for the students to practice and sharpen their skills in their preferred sports and activities. Our after-school clubs include football, taekwondo, futsal, badminton, chess, Creative Art Club, Photoshop & 3D Design Club and Start-up Apprentice Club, to name a few.
